Senior Bioinformatician (HU)

Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain software for analysing large-scale genomic data
- Design and implement algorithms for extracting biologically meaningful information from raw data
- Work with biologists and other scientists to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs
- Write code that is efficient, reliable, and easy to maintain
- Optimise code for speed and scalability
- Stay up-to-date on advances in bioinformatics and related fields
- Write technical documentation
- Give presentations to scientific or technical audiences
- Collaborate with colleagues in the bioinformatics department and across the company
- Mentor junior staff
- Adhere to quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, biology, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience working in a bioinformatics-related role
- Proficient in at least one major programming language (C++, Java, Python, etc.)
- Expertise in statistical methods and data analysis
- Experience with high-performance computing and large-scale data sets
- String publication record in peer-reviewed journals
- Self-motivated, works well with minimal supervision
- Experience with Linux operating system and tools used in software development
Advantageous Skills:
- Postdoctoral experience in a relevant field
- Teaching experience at the university level
- Industry experience in a relevant field
- Additional expertise in a second programming language
