New genomes assembled using Omixon plug-ins

Four bacterial genomes have been assembled with the assistance of the Omixon Gapped SOLiD Alignment plug-in for the CLC Genomics Workbench. These bacterial genomes contribute to the understanding of dermatology, antibiotic production and oil degradation.

Omixon release new versions of their command line Toolkits

Omixon release support for paired reads with their Toolkits.

Both Omixon Toolkits have a new release. Included in both is support for paired reads – both mate pair and paired end – along with a host of other new features and bug fixes.  See the linked release notes for the details.

Omixon release first beta of new Letter Space Toolkit for Illumina, Ion Torrent and 454 data

Omixon release a very fast and very sensitive mapping tool for letter space data.

The range of Omixon products has been expanded with the addition of a new command line toolkit, called the Letter Space Toolkit. This contains a tool called ORM which is a letter space mapping and alignment tool. It is both very fast and very precise has a number of unique features including variable density indexing for exome and other targetted sequencing, mapping of long indels, handling of tandem repeats and more.

ORM will align data from the Illumina, Ion Torrent and Roche 454 platforms. This first version is a beta release.

Omixon release Cloud Gate, a fast and free cloud data transfer utility

Omixon release a fast and free cloud data transfer utility, called Cloud Gate.

One of the main barriers with using the cloud is the uploading and downloading of very large files to and from the Amazon cloud environment. Omixon have developed the Cloud Gate utility to do fast parallel uploads and downloads of files of up to 5 terabytes to and from the Amazon S3 cloud storage.

It also works for data transfers within the Amazon cloud itself and includes support for HDFS (hadoop distributed file system). It can be used as a simple command line utility, or can be plugged in to your own applications.

Omixon release online Human Exome Analysis

Omixon release the most accurate human exome analysis in the genomics industry.

In co-ordination with their new website release, Omixon have today released their brand new online Human Exome Analysis service. The Omixon human exome analysis is designed to analyze DNA sequencing data targeted at the human exome. The analysis finds significant amounts of valid SNPs and indels not found by other methods. This analysis currently works with Life Technologies SOLiD sequencer data.
