Crabs, Epitopes and Revolutionary Products – the Highlights of ASHI 2018

Thank you everyone for visiting us and joining our events during the 44th Annual ASHI Meeting. The Omixon Team – Efi, Maggi, Ellia, Renata, Nora, Kriszta, Pete, Dan, Gergo and Attila – went on a trip to Baltimore, Maryland, the home of crab cakes, a stunning harbor and lots of historical venues.

The conference was held at Marriott Waterfront, in the lovely Inner Harbor area of Baltimore. The Omixon booth was constantly busy with discussions, HLA Twin software demos and people taking selfies in the bright orange Omixon hats! The booth itself was designed to highlight our main messages: a new ABO Primer Kit and our Holotype HLA assay kit and HLA Twin software.

On the opening day of the conference, we hosted our second User Group Meeting, where 5 guest speakers presented their slides and shared their experience with our Holotype HLA product. This gave participants the opportunity to hear and discuss several Holotype HLA users’ experiences, learn from their challenges and celebrate the successes. Thank you for sharing your feedback and being interactive throughout the event, this means a lot to us.

The Omixon Party seems to become a bigger tradition year by year and we managed to high new highs in Baltimore – this time we headed to Barcocina, where our guests (more than 120!) were invited to crab grab a drink with us, take funny pictures in the Omixon photo booth and just let loose for a few hours to forget about the busy schedule of the conference. Thank you all for coming – we promise to make an even fun and bigger event next year!

On Thursday, our Symposium presentation, titled “The case for ultra high resolution typing for epitope matching” focused on epitope matching, featuring three guest speakers, Sallyanne Fossey (DCI Nashville); Julie Houp (University of Alabama); and Karen Sherwood (Vancouver Coastal Health), and we introduced our collaboration with PIRCHE on epitope determination with NGS.
And, of course, this would have not been a “typical” Omixon Symposium without a funny video: we presented the new OmagixOn ZIP Type ULA, a revolutionary product that helps you type any leukocyte from any organism in the known universe! (No. We can’t really take ourselves too seriously.)

See you all in Pittsburgh, PA in 2019!
