HLA and The City – Omixon at ASHI 2017

First of all, thank you to all our customers, distributors, friends and everyone else for visiting us and joining our events during the 43rd Annual ASHI 2017 Meeting! This year the Omixon Team – Efi, Maggi, Ellia, Nora, Kriszta, Pete, Faisal, Marcello and Attila – went on a trip to sunny California for ASHI 2017 in San Francisco. Not a bad place to celebrate successful events, a brand new booth and company announcements.

The conference was held at Hilton Union Square San Francisco, in the heart of The City. We debuted a new booth, which was almost constantly busy with discussions and HLA Twin software demos. The booth itself was designed to highlight our main messages: Automation and our software + assay product, Holotype HLA.

Omixon hosted two software training workshops on Monday, the opening day of the conference – one for technicians to learn how to troubleshoot technical errors during NGS lab procedures, the other one for high level users of the HLA Twin software to tackle challenging samples. More than 50 people showed up to learn more about the software. Based on their extremely positive feedback (thank you all!), there is a lot of value in our workshops and this keeps us going forward to provide excellent overview and helpful technical workshops to our customers every year.

This time we organized a private ‘Craft Beers and Games’ party at Rambler, a nearby place at Union Square with amazing, cozy and modern interior. Our guests could enjoy a wide range of games – basketball, shuffle board, pool, or even skee ball, not to mention the excellent service the Rambler team provided. We definitely had a great time!

On Thursday, our Symposium presentation, titled ‘Holotype HLA: Automated NGS-based HLA Typing for Bone Marrow and Solid Organ Programs’ focused on NGS for solid organ transplantation and the efficiencies of automating NGS on liquid handling instruments. Omixon’s CEO, Dr. Peter Meintjes announced major product innovations and new directions for the company. Extra special thanks to all our guest speakers – Dr. Karen Sherwood (Vancouver General Hospital), Denice Kong (UCSF) and Rachel Breeding (University of Kentucky) –  for taking the time out of their busy schedules to come and be part of our event.

And at last but not least, thank you to all the organizers for this amazing conference at Hilton San Francisco Union Square. See you next year in Baltimore!
