The Long Indel Contest

In order to raise awareness of biological importance of insertions and deletions as genomic variants, we have introduced a scientific challenge: The Long Indel Contest.

The goal is to find long insertions and deletions up to 1024 base pairs in length, based on human Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data and reference based alignment. Find the longest insertion or deletion using human genomic data with one of the standard human reference genomes (hg18, hg19) and win US$500. Continue reading
